Kobudo Weaponry Volume 5: Kama
It is commonly believed that Okinawan farming tools evolved into lethal weapons of self defense when the Satsuma samurai clan forbade the peasants from carrying arms.
The kama is a traditional hand-held farming sickle used for harvesting crops. This versatile weapon can be used against a hostile attacker by cutting with the blade, striking with the handle, or hooking an opponent’s limb or weapon using the notch between the handle and blade.
This video teaches the traditional self-defense techniques and katas for the kama. It is an ideal teaching aid for review, rank testing, competition, and self-defense.
